For domestic lines, eSIM activation is only available to devices that are US models. For international data lines, eSIM activation is available to all eSIM compatible devices not limited to US models.

Device compatibility also varies based on device variant, previously locked device, and the country where the device is from.

For example: iPhones XS, XS Max, and XR sold in China, Macau, and Hong Kong are not eSIM compatible - however, they are Dual SIM phones with 2 physical SIM slots. Google Pixel 3 and 3XL devices are eSIM compatible; however, certain Pixel 3s work with the "add carrier" option. Samsung Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy Z fold 2 from the US and Hong Kong are not eSIM compatible.
